We Have Lame News (The Film Is Still Awesome Though)

Hey everyone,
Remember when we said April 2026? Yeah, about that...
This is the second time we’ve had to push the delivery date, and we’re not going to insult your intelligence by burying that fact in three paragraphs of producer-speak. You’ve been REALLY fucking patient. But here we are again asking for more time and we're truly sorry for that.
As you all know, the film is done, and it’s fucking awesome. It screened to real audiences and they loved it (and the film still is playing festivals around the world - see below). But we're in active negotiations with a major streaming platform which is taking so much longer than anticipated. Until that deal closes, we can’t release to backers - that’s baked into how the film was financed. We should have communicated that constraint more clearly earlier on. That’s on us. But we’re close. Really. Anyone who’s ever waited on a distribution deal knows that “close” can be a deeply meaningless word, but we genuinely believe this one is imminent.
October 2026 is the new target.
You’ve stuck with us through a lot. We appreciate it more than this update probably conveys. Hang tight - we’re nearly there.
Team Deathgasm2
P.S. The film will be playing the following upcoming festivals:
- BoneBat Comedy Film Festival (U.S.A.) – April 11 - Bruggore Film Festival (Switzerland) – April 21
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hey Gang!
First off, Happy New Year to you all.
We wanted to share a quick update and some positive news.
The film is currently in active discussions with a streaming platform regarding a potential acquisition. This is a great step that could significantly help the film reach a much wider audience and strengthen its long-term life.
Because of this, we can’t yet lock in exact delivery dates for backer rewards & theatrical screening dates. If the streamer comes on board, their release and delivery requirements will affect final timelines. If not, we’ll move forward independently and set dates immediately.
Nothing about your rewards is changing — only the timing, and only temporarily. We’re being careful here because this decision directly impacts the film’s success and visibility.
As soon as this is resolved one way or the other, we’ll update you with clear, firm dates.
Thank you for your patience and for being part of this journey. Your support is a big reason these conversations are happening at all.

MORE FILM FESTS & REWARD DELAY EXPLANATION

– Thu, Oct 02, 2025 at 05:28:21 PM
In regards to our announcement about rewards arriving later than expected, we want to first acknowledge how much we appreciate your patience and support. We know delays can be frustrating, and we don’t take that lightly.
Our Kickstarter campaign raised $300k USD, which was an incredible show of support. But to bring DEATHGASM 2 to life, the full budget reached $1.5 million. That means your backing covered a smaller, yet absolutely vital, part of the budget. The rest came from private investors, tax credits, and public funding (like the New Zealand Film Commission). Your support was the spark that ignited the whole process. It proved there was demand, which gave other investors the confidence to join in. Simply put: without you, this film wouldn’t exist.
That said, it's important to understand that indie films can’t release rewards the same way Amazon ships packages. The rollout has to be carefully timed: festivals, theatrical release, VOD, then physical media. Sending rewards before release would undercut the film’s value and harm the other investors who helped make it possible by covering the additional financing.
That’s why the rewards are scheduled for 6–8 months after completion. Not because of any foot-dragging, but because this is how indie films survive. When your Blu-rays, vinyl, and merch arrive, they’ll be tied to the film’s official release, giving you not just exclusive rewards, but a piece of a movie with the best possible chance of becoming another cult classic.
Backing an indie horror project is never simple or predictable, but what you’ve helped create is more than just another movie. It’s a film with a real shot at longevity, and you’re a huge part of the reason it exists.
Thank you for understanding and sticking with us 🤟.

Hey Gang -
Last week's screening at Fantastic Fest was a huge success! We played two sold out screenings and the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive.
In case you missed it, Collider did an amazing interview with director Jason Lei Howden, Kimberley Crossman, Adam Scherr (aka Braun Strowman) and producer Andrew T Hunt. You can watch the full interview here:
Hot on the heels of our World Premiere lots of other film fests are reaching out eager to play the film, so our next film fest screenings will be:
There are more fests coming up in the US, UK, and Europe that we will announce here soon.
Thanks to strong festival demand and our commitment to giving the film a proper theatrical release, fulfillment of rewards will be delayed by 6–8 months. We realize this may be disappointing, but taking this extra time ensures the film reaches its fullest potential. With the film just completed, we also want to deliver a physical release that’s truly worth the wait.
We can’t thank you enough for your patience and support — you’re the reason this film exists and why it’s reaching audiences around the world. We promise the wait will be worth it, and we’ll keep you updated as we march toward release. Stay metal, and stay tuned!

Hey Everyone -
In advance of our World Premiere this Sunday at Fantastic Fest in Austin, our trailer for DEATHGASM 2 has just dropped on IGN!!
In terms of the film, we finished our sound mix for it last week and delivered the DCP to Fantastic Fest in the knick of time. But the film is only 99% done - we still have some final adjustments to make to it after the World Premiere (some additional audio and picture tweaks).
We also have some additional Festival announcements coming soon. Until then, enjoy the trailer!
